Lauer Wins NSF Award

Wes Lauer, assistant professor in civil and environmental engineering, has received a three year grant of $87,600 from the National Science Foundation to study sediment transport dynamics and carbon cycling through the Fly River system in Papua New Guinea .  A 2008 special collection of the Journal of Geophysical Research, Earth Surface titledThe Papuan Continuum: Source to Sink Through the Fly River System and Gulf of Papua features three papers for which he was author or co-author.  He also co-authored two additional papers on the Fly River that have been accepted for publication in the journal Sedimentology. Dr. Lauer also mentored the EWRI national champion design team pictured above.
