Nirmala (Nimmy) Gnanapragasam obtained her Bachelors Degree with First Class Honors from University of Moratuwa, Srilanka in 1985. She earned her MS (1988) and PhD (1993) from Northwestern University.
Dr. Gnanapragasam joined Seattle University as an Assistant Professor in 1993, and was promoted to Associate Professor in 1998. She teaches the geotechnical engineering courses and has taught many of the fundamental engineering courses. She currently serves as the department’s design coordinator for the year-long, industrially sponsored design projects. She is registered professional engineer in the State of Washington.
She is active in engineering education research, consulting and in K-12 math education.
