Jeff Dragovich was born and raised in Seattle, Washington. He earned his BSCE from Seattle University in 1988. He earned his MS and Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign.

He worked as a bridge engineer with Andersen Bjornstad Kane Jacobs and was a software developer with the Boeing Company. Prior to joining the faculty at Seattle University, he was a senior design engineer with the Magnusson Klemencic Associates.
