ANNUAL ICE CREAM SOCIAL
CEE Students Learn About Important Opportunties for
2012-2013 Academic Year
First-year students, graduating seniors and students in between had a chance to mingle at the recent Civil and Environmental Engineering Department Ice Cream Social. Student leaders spoke about the coming year's activities such as Steel Bridge (Tim Thorpe), Concrete Canoe (Maxx Toyama) and Engineers Without Borders (Bobbie Gilmour). Dr. Marsolek shared that the Society of Environmental Engineers and Scientists is participating in a student design competition for the US Environmental Protection Agency. The deadline is in December, so interested students should watch their email and attend the next SEES meeting. Dr. Thompson also announced that students who would like to volunteer as tutors or those who might need a tutor should contact him, and he will facilitate the connection. There were a few ice cream bars left over, so we hope that more students will attend our Engineers Week social during winter quarter!

Pictured above is Tim Thorpe (BSCE '13) talking to first-year students, (from left to right) Kristin Ramey, Andrew McAftery, Nataya Rakpanitmanee, and Kendra Jozwiak, about the steel bridge competition.
