Connell and Nofziger Win Scholarships!

CEE Juniors Amanda Connell and Jesse Nofziger have been awarded the $2,000 Scholarship from the American Public Works Association (APWA) for Washington State. The APWA offers only five scholarships in the amount of $2,000 to full-time Washington students entering his/her junior or senior year this fall term of 2009 in programs that benefit the field of Public Works. Amanda has also won the 2008 Cindy M. Treser Memorial Undergraduate Student Scholarship Award, from the Washington State Environmental Health Association. She was given a certificate of award and a check for $500 at the 15th Annual Washington State Joint Conference on Health on October 6-8, 2008.

On April 30, 2009, Jesse was informed he was also awarded $5,000 from the ASCE Seattle Section of the R. H. Thomson Memorial Scholarship Program. The Seattle Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) established a scholarship program in memory of R. H. Thomson, an outstanding engineer and a significant contributor to the development of the City of Seattle. The R. H. Thomson Memorial Scholarship Program encourages and assists promising students who have expressed interest in pursuing a career in the field of Civil Engineering.
