Civil & Environmental Engineering
Civil engineers create solutions for some of society's biggest challenges. A broad and dynamic field, civil engineering includes the sub-disciplines of environmental, geotechnical, structural, transportation and water resources engineering as well as surveying. Because the field of civil engineering is inextricably linked to population growth, it is an excellent career choice for the future. In addition, the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) has estimated that there are 3.6 trillion dollars of much needed infrastructure projects within the United Sates alone.
Grounded in the Jesuit-Catholic tradition, our program has an outstanding faculty that is dedicated to undergraduate education. Our students study abroad, serve as leaders in vibrant student organizations, and thrive on nationally recognized design teams through our Engineering Project Center. Graduates of our program often work for government agencies or in the private sector, and they usually pursue the path to professional licensure. Many of our graduates also seek advanced degrees at top graduate and professional schools across the nation.
We hope you will explore the many facets of our civil engineering program through these web pages. If you have questions or would like to arrange a campus visit, please contact Dr. Phillip Thompson, P.E.
