Local Volunteer Opportunities

We are one America:

OneAmerica's mission is to advance the fundamental principles of democracy and justice through building power in immigrant communities, in collaboration with key allies.  Initially named Hate Free Zone, the organization was founded immediately after September 11, 2001 to address the backlash in a post 9/11 world against immigrant communities of color, primarily Muslims, Arab Americans, East Africans, and South Asians. Recognizing a critical need for a strong immigrant rights organization, OneAmerica quickly expanded to fill that gap.  Today, OneAmerica is the largest immigrant advocacy organization in Washington State, working both in the state and nationally with leading partners in varied communities and sectors to ensure that immigrant communities and their rights are recognized and upheld in our democracy. Puget Sound Blood Center

At Puget Sound Blood Center, when we talk about the work of our Research Institute, what we are really talking about is saving lives. Many recognize the lifesaving work of the Blood Center for its role in maintaining the blood supply for Western Washington. But that is only the beginning of how the Blood Center touches the lives of people all over the world.

The Blood Center is widely considered the premier knowledge source on blood research and transfusion medicine and has been developing cutting-edge technologies and establishing best practices in this field for over sixty-six years. Medical institutions worldwide rely on the Blood Center's research work. Scientific equipment manufacturers, as well as pharmaceutical companies turn to the Blood Center for help in developing effective equipment and successful therapies that are saving lives around the world every day. Sea Mar Community Health Centers

Sea Mar Community Health Centers, founded in 1978, is a community-based organization committed to providing quality, comprehensive health and human services in Washington State.  Originally founded to serve only Latinos, Sea Mar proudly serves all persons without regard to race, ethnicity, immigration status, gender, or sexual preference, and regardless of ability to pay for services. Sea Mar’s network of services includes more than 50 medical, dental, and behavioral health clinics and centers, and a wide variety of nutritional, social, and educational services. To volunteer click HERE. They are also affiliated with Americorps for gap year opportunities:  http://www.americorps.gov/ and http://www.communityhealthcorps.org/
