  • AAMC Home Page - Home page of the Association of American Medical Colleges; an enormous amount of useful information makes this site the ideal starting point for those interested in medical school.
    You can apply to MD-granting medical schools online using the AMCAS application available at this site. You can also find information about the MCAT exam here.
  • The American Medical Student Association also welcomes premedical students as members.
  • The Positive Profiles web site is sponsored by Pfizer Inc. and contains some useful resources for prospective medical students.
  • The Summer Medical Education Program - The SMEP is a summer enrichment program for underrepresented or disadvantaged students interested in admission to medical school. You can apply online. The University of Washington also offers experiences for predental students through this program.
  • The American Dental Association - The Dental Career Information page has some useful information for pre-dental students. Information about the Dental Admissions Test (DAT) can be found at http://www.ada.org/prof/ed/testing/dat/index.asp. Lots of information about the process of applying to dental school can be found at the American Dental Education Association. Applications for dental school can be completed online through the American Association of Dental Schools Application Service (AADSAS) website (http://aadsas.adea.org/).
  • The AACOM Home Page - Home page of the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine; an excellent source of information for those considering osteopathic medicine as a career. You can apply online using the AACOMAS application form.
  • The Association of American Veterinary Colleges - A fine resource for those interested in veterinary medicine. You can apply to some of the veterinary schools by using the VMCAS application available at the website.
  • The Podiatric Medical Educational Network - The web site for the American Association of Colleges of Podiatric Medicine; check out the Career Center page in particular. You can apply online to podiatric medical schools using the AACPMAS form available at this web site.
  • The Association of Schools and Colleges of Optometry - This site should help you more clearly visualize a career in optometry. There are links to all the US schools and colleges of optometry here. You can apply online here to sign up to take the Optometry Admission Test (OAT).
  • The American Academy of Forensic Sciences - The Career Brochure page includes much useful information for those interested in this field. Check the Young Forensic Scientists' Forum here and the "So you want to be a Forensic Scientist" section.
  • The American Physical Therapy Association Page has information about careers and educational programs.
  • Preparing for a professional school interview and want to know what to
    expect? Or have you already begun the interview process and want to share
    your experiences with other prospective students? Either way, the Student Doctor Network Medical School Interview Feedback should be your next stop. You can
    find out about interviews at medical, dental, optometry, veterinary, and
    pharmacy schools. There is also a "Med School Diary" section at the Student Doctor
    Network where professional school students write about their experiences.
  • What are the top medical schools in the United States (at least according to "U.S. News and World Report")? Check out their current list of the top research-oriented and the top primary-care medical schools.
  • The Bailey-Boushay House is a skilled nursing facility for AIDS patients in the Madison Valley area which has volunteer opportunities available.
  • Jesuit Volunteer Corps - Several of our graduates have served in the Jesuit Volunteer Corps for one or two years before going on to medical school, and have felt it was a great opportunity to learn more about health care needs out there in the community as well as to express their desire to be of help to others.
  • The Next Generation A Resource for Aspiring Physicians web site:
    www.NextGenMD.org. published every two months in collaboration between Harvard undergraduates
    and the New England Journal of Medicine, aims to encourage the next generation of physicians and health-consicious citizens to develop broader perspectives on the field of medicine.
  • American Medical Association online interactive forum for analyzing and
    exploring ethical and professional issues in medicine
  • UW School of Medicine Bioethics Topics
  • Student Doctor. Students write in about their interview experiences at medical schools.
  • Healthy People gives progress reports & other info about Healthy People 2010, an evaluation of the state
    of public health in the US, along with a set of goals and plans for improvement.
  • Explore Health Careers is full of information about different health careers, occupational outlook, enrichment programs, and funding for education.
