Academic Advising

Academic Advising is a collaborative, educational process where a student and their advisor are partners in planning the student's personal, academic, and vocational goals as well as in ensuring student success.

Our academic advising model is guided by our core values of care, academic excellence, diversity, faith, justice, and leadership.

  • We are committed to providing you with guidance and support to help you develop a successful educational plan.
  • We share in discussion and reflection on your experiences.
  • We monitor your academic advancement and performance.

There are two types of Academic Advisors at Seattle U:

  • Faculty Advisors are faculty members who teach classes and serve as academic advisors, usually for students in their same academic field.
  • Professional Advisors are staff members who primarily serve as academic advisors. Professional advisors are located in an advising center.
