Science and Engineering at Seattle University

Aerial Shot

The College of Science and Engineering is a partnership of basic sciences, mathematics and their applications.  Faculty design the curriculum so that science and its applications are in harmony.  This close cooperation allows us to keep current with the latest technical demands. We use a team approach to learning.  Solving the problems of the future requires partnerships of scientists and engineers with wide and broadly informed backgrounds.  We mirror that team approach in the school and provide students opportunities to work with other disciplines during their undergraduate career.

The city of Seattle is an extension of our campus community, whereby local companies and agencies such as Boeing, Microsoft, Kenworth, AT&T, Cisco, and many others, present our students with real problems needing real solutions. Seattle University's Project Center organizes up to 30 students annually around technical challenges, and our students present their work to sponsoring companies in an annual conference. These same business and community members also provide mentorship and assist our students in developing leadership and communication skills, making Seattle University unique among private universities in the northwest.

You can major in one of our basic science disciplines or in one of our highly rated engineering departments - civil and environmental engineering, mechanical engineering, or computer and electrical engineering. In addition to our basic degree programs in science, mathematics, and engineering, students may also obtain an interdisciplinary general science degree, or prepare for graduate work in the health professions by following one of our pre-medical curricula. All our graduates are broadly educated and prepared to begin successful careers or to continue study in postgraduate work.
