Learning Style and Study Skills Assessments
To gain a better understanding of yourself as a learner, it helps to evaluate the way you learn best. You can use this information to develop a style that enhances your learning potential. The following are instruments we use in assessing learning style and study approaches: The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) can give you insights into your personality and how it affects your interpersonal, organizational, and learning style preferences.
The following 3 inventories are available in the Learning Center:

The Kolb Learning Style Inventory (LSI) gives you a picture of your usual way of perceiving and processing information and shows you have you can use your strengths and increas your learning flexibility.
The Barsch Learning Style Inventory evaluates your visual, auditory, and kinesthetic approach to learning to better understand how you process information most effecively.
The Learning and Study Strategies Inventory (LASSI) asks specific questions about your current study strategies in order to highlight your relative strengths and weaknesses as a student, thereby helping you to focus on study skills that need improvement.
There are also several inventories available on our website. Please look under "Resources" in the menu for online learning style inventories. You can complete them and then bring them to an appointment with a Learning Specialist. The Specialist will help you adapt your learning strategies to your strengths.
