Truman Scholarship Announcement
Dear Students,
We are writing to let you know about the Truman Scholarship. This award provides up to $30,000 for graduate studies in public service fields. If you have a strong record of community service as well as a strong academic record, and you are interested in pursuing a career in public service, you may want to consider applying for this award.
To determine whether your academic and career goals fit within the scope of the Truman Scholarship, please see the foundation's website. While the Truman Foundation defines public service broadly, competition for this award is intense. To be a viable candidate, you must have a high GPA, an impressive leadership and service record, a clear vision, and the potential to be a change agent. Accordingly, we will consider internal candidates with a GPA of at least 3.7. We will work with a committee to evaluate internal candidates' leadership, service, vision, and potential to effect change.
As indicated on our Truman application calendar, Seattle University will select internal candidates during fall quarter. If you are interested in applying for a Truman Scholarship, please contact Luke Green to determine whether you are eligible. Then contact Bridget Hiedemann to schedule an appointment. We encourage you to begin working on your application (now available on the foundation's website) as soon as possible. While the application process takes place during a student's junior year of college, we encourage you to contact us even if you are a freshman or sophomore.
We look forward to hearing from you.
