Kick start your new year by making a commitment to your wellness! Let’s all make up for eating a little too much and watching a little too many football games and parades instead of getting into the gym by participating in the 2012 Anne Carragher Fitness & Wellness Challenge, which begins on January 23.

Sponsored by University Recreation and the Office of Health and Wellness Promotion(including PHAT: the Peer Health Action Team), the six-week challenge is an opportunity for staff, students and faculty to work on individual goals towards a healthier, more balanced life. Teams of four compete to earn weekly points for healthy activities such as exercising, not smoking, sleeping well and flossing. The challenge concludes with an awards ceremony, prizes and, perhaps most important, bragging rights.

Sign up by noon on January 23 by assembling a team of four, designating a captain and having the captain email fitnesschallenge@seattleu.edu with your team name and the full names and emails of all four team members(four members only; a person can only be on one team) and specify who is a student, staff, or faculty participant. Teams can consist of all students, all staff/faculty, or a combination of faculty/staff/ students.

At least one team member must attend ONE of the three available information sessions. Bonus points earned for attendance! Each session is about 30 minutes and will cover the ground rules of the Challenge. Additional make-up info sessions will be announced soon to replace the ones, which were cancelled due to the university snow closure.

This is an annual and fun Seattle University tradition—you don’t want to miss out!
