    Group Fitness Instructor

    Alex Sway is devoted to inspiring people to live a healthy lifestyle through physical and mental empowerment. Alex loves to teach upbeat yet challenging classes where students have the chance to develop new skills, build power and get a good sweat! Alex recently graduated from 200 hours yoga teacher training and is excited to bring on the heat in his Power Yoga Classes!

    Anne is a full time fitness professional certified by the American Council on Exercise (ACE), Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA), and YogaFit. She recently added an ACE MindBody certification to her repertoire. Her experience spans ten years and four universities. She truly believes that "health is the greatest wealth" and thus strives to offer a fun and safe workout so that participants can keep up with it for a lifetime! Expect to maximize your time with a full-body, mood-lifting workout in Anne's classes.

    Ben is currently a Junior, Sports and Exercise Science major. Playing soccer throughout childhood in his hometown near Milwaukee, Wisconsin, he has always enjoyed being active and staying fit. Looking for a new venue for exercise, Ben began taking cycling classes at Seattle University. After enjoying the energy and effort required for indoor cycling, he decided to become a certified cycling instructor through Mad Dogg Athletics. His classes are high energy, ever-evolving, and a fun time for all skill levels. Ben is looking to use his education and experience here at UREC to pursue a career in sports medicine.

    Claire

    Claire

    Group Fitness Instructor

    Claire received a 200 Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) certification in Vinyasa Flow yoga from YogaLife Studios in 2010 and has been teaching ever since. She started practicing yoga as rehab from a torn hamstring, and now seeks to combine the musicality and discipline of her background in classical ballet and modern dance with the centering practices of yoga. Claire’s classes combine breath work, held stretches and vigorous flow. She strives to bring humor, challenge and great music to every class. All are welcome- you just have to show up, be curious and breathe!

    Group Fitness Instructor

    Darcy is a certified yoga therapist and instructor through The American Viniyoga Institute. She has practiced a variety of yoga styles over the last decade and for the last five years has concentrated her study on yoga anatomy, yoga for specific conditions, and adapting yoga in group contexts to serve a wide variety of body types and abilities. Her goals are to help students safely develop strength and flexibility, find relief from the stress of busy lives, and experience the focused attention and increased well-being yoga can offer. She loves noodles, cake and a good book on a rainy afternoon.

    Group Fitness Instructor

    Emily teaches classes that work to cultivate a greater mind-body awareness through exploring the body's potential. After practicing religiously for six years, Emily began teaching in April 2013. She is a certified YogaFit Instructor, and is in the process of completing her 200-Hour Registered Yoga Teacher training trough Live, Love, Flow.  As a graduate in Psychology, she hopes to utilize yoga as a mode of therapy and a catalyst for personal development. Emily's classes integrate balancing postures, conscious breathing, and fun, fluid sequences to offer the space and opportunity to enhance body strength and flexibility.

    Laura

    Laura received her Peak Pilates Basic Mat Certification, as well as an AFAA Personal Training Certification, in 2014. She sought to teach after becoming involved in classes at home and at SU, and hasn't looked back since. Her Pilates class focuses on breathing and strengthening the core, in order to improve muscular endurance and posture, respectively. Her class is meant for people of all fitness levels, as she hopes to help others achieve a happier and healthier lifestyle.

    Melissa

    Melissa

    Melissa is a licensed Zumba instructor and personal trainer with a background in nutrition and wellness cooking. Her own struggle with weight and health for much of her life inspired Melissa to pursue a degree in nutrition, followed by attending culinary school focusing in a plant-based diet and healing modalities. For Melissa, health and wellness come from a combination of fitness and food. Melissa loves Zumba because it doesn't feel like a workout - it feels like fun that anyone can participate in! She fills the room with high-energy rhythms from all over the world, especially the Latin songs of her youth in Mexico. In addition to Zumba, Melissa also teaches cycle - every day is a new ride!

    Rury

    Rury

    Group Fitness Instructor

    Rury is currently a sophomore at SU and is studying Sports and Exercise Science. She was born in Korea and moved to Guam when she was 8 years old. Rury loves taking group fitness classes and doing different workouts. Rury has been teaching Zumba since 2012. Rury’s Zumba classes include a lot of reggaeton (Latin hip-hop) and high intensity songs. She love teaching at UREC because the students are always full of energy and are eager to work out!

    Sydney

    Sydney

    Group Fitness Instructor

    Sydney is a Sports and Exercise Science major originally from Eastern Washington. She has been a cycling enthusiast for more than three years, and is excited to now share her passion with others. Growing up she danced ballet, participated in competitive dance teams, and has even taken the Key Arena court with Seattle University's dance team. She received her G.E.A.R cycling training in early 2014.
