Professionals Without Borders

Current Projects

  •  While our ultimate goal for each project is to empower students as servant leaders, there are several other criteria which every PWOB project must meet. First and foremost, each project must support the Seattle University mission of educating the whole person, professional formation, and empowering leaders for a just and humane world. In addition, projects all have strong and deliberate Jesuit or Seattle University ties, meaning that an alumnus, Jesuit, or Jesuit organization is hosting or facilitating the process for the beneficiaries. Projects must have a basic curriculum or learning objectives which are developed for each student on the project team.

On the service side of the project, all projects must benefit many people and are community-oriented, such as building a community well. All technology used to complete the projects must be sustainable, and though PWOB cannot always conform to SU standards for sustainability when abroad, we do our best to be conscious of the tools and technology used.

All projects are led by individuals who have previously participated in a PWOB project with the duration of at least one week; many students who participate in PWOB trips go on to be leaders in later years.
