Information Technology

Information technology is a key component of the university’s operations and plans.  The Board of Trustees identified technology as a crucial consideration in the 2007-2008 strategic plan refresh, and it continues to be a critical component of the university's strategic plan.

Several comprehensive reviews of information technology have been conducted. The first review, conducted in 2002, resulted in the outsourcing of this function to Collegis (which subsequently became SunGard). In 2010, an environmental scan and advisory committee supported continuing the university's relationship with SunGard.  A new contract was negotiated and began on July 1, 2011. In 2012, SunGard merged with Datatel to become Ellucian.  Currently, Ellucian/OIT operates under the direction and leadership of SU's Chief Information Officer, Chuck Porter, and is overseen by Robert Dullea, Vice President for University Planning and Vice Provost.
