The Lavender Celebration 2012

The Lavender Celebration is an annual celebration to recognize Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex and questioning individuals along with their allies. This year the Lavender Celebration will take place on Friday, June 10th in Casey Commons (5th Floor Casey Building). 

Please RSVP at oma-rsvp@seattleu.edu.  If you are a graduating student please indicate that along with the degree you will receive as we may recognize your accomplishments.

The Lavender Celebration Awards are a way to acknowledge and thank outstanding members of the Seattle University community for promoting a welcoming and affirming climate for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, and questioning individuals.

To nominate: please download, complete, and return the attached  nomination form electronically as an email attachment to Eli Carr or complete and return a hard copy nomination form to the Office of Multicultural Affairs in Student Center 320.
 

Individuals may nominate themselves and there is no limit to the number of nominations one can submit: 

The Sylvia Rivera Award for Queer Activism

This award recognizes an undergraduate student who positively and consistently impacts the LGBTQI community at Seattle University. This student serves as a role model and inspires others to action, promotes a safe environment, and educates the Seattle University community on important LGBTQI related issues. 
 

The Cari Urabe Scholar-Advocate Award

 This award recognizes a graduate or law student who positively and consistently impacts the LGBTQI community at Seattle University. This student serves as a role model and inspires others to action, promotes a safe environment, and educates the Seattle University community on important LGBTQI related issues.

Award for Advancing Inclusion in Campus Life

This award recognizes one staff member and one faculty member at Seattle University who has gone above and beyond the requirements of their position to advance an understanding of LGBTQI individuals and their allies by creating a more welcoming and affirming climate at Seattle University.

Award for Outstanding Group Leadership

This award recognizes a group or organization that has worked diligently and consistently over the course of the 2008-2009 academic year to promote visibility, acceptance, and awareness of Queer needs, issues, and concerns at Seattle University, including the promotion of diversity and social justice.

OUTstanding Program or Event Award

This award recognizes an event at Seattle University that advanced an understanding of and/or improved the climate on campus for LGBTQI individuals and their allies. This may include, but is not limited to programs or events hosted by departments, student organizations and clubs.
