Graduating Students of Color Celebration

This celebration is for graduating students of color and their families tocome together in solidarity and acknowledge the hard work and accomplishmentsof the students. Delicious food, entertainment, and awards are a few of thehighlights of of this remarkable evening! If you are a graduating studentyou can RSVP at oma-rsvp@seattleu.edu(please let us know how many family members you plan on bringing).
The following student and staff awards are given during thecelebration:
Bayanihan Award - Community Service and Involvement
This award recognizes an graduating student that has been actively involvedat Seattle University and our local community. She/he serves as a role modeland demonstrates the importance of community involvement and inclusion throughdirect action.
Poder Award – Leadership & Action
This award recognizes a graduating student who has worked diligently andconsistently to affect positive change among his/her peers and community. Thisstudent serves as a role model and inspires others to action on importantissues that support a positive change. This individual’s actions inspire othersand promote a diverse environment that fosters acceptance and inclusion to allmembers of the SU community.
Sankofa Award – Outstanding Faculty and Staff Recognition
This award recognizes a faculty or staff member who has made a positiveimpact on graduating students’ lives and on multicultural advocacy at SeattleUniversity. This individual may be nominated by any graduating student.
