The OIT Web Services office is located in Engineering 600.   Web Services reports to the Director of Adminstrative Computing and Web Services.  In conjuction with the Seattle University Help Desk, Web Services provides support for web page design, development, and deployment.  The department also works with OIT Network Services to provide support for Seattle University's Web Hosting environment.  Web Services is responsible for the development and support of custom web applications as approved and prioritized by the Information Technology Council.

OIT Web Services is responsible for supporting the following web related tasks:

  1. Consult with Seattle University offices and departments as requested to assist with the design, redesign and implementation of departmental websites.
  2. Assist Seattle University departments with developing the technical architecture of web sites, including scripting, database design, and user interface design.
  3. Assisting staff in offices and departments with loading new content as needed.
  4. Web Application development and support.
  5. The creation of Weblogs and Forums.
  6. OIT is responsible for the implementation and management of Seattle University’s Web infrastructure and managing website permissions.

The following are guidelines for contacting OIT for web related assistance:

  1. Seattle University Departments and Offices are encouraged to contact the Help Desk for assistance with creating or modifying Office or Departmental Web Sites. This includes website redesigns. If the work requires advanced technical assistance or is deemed a larger project (5 hours or more) it will be referred to Web Services for review.
  2. Departments and Offices should contact the Help Desk for issues related to website or web application permissions.
  3. Departments and Offices should contact the Help Desk to report technical problems with websites or web applications.
  4. Department and Offices are encouraged to contact Web Services directly for requesting Web Application development or support.
  5. All work that requires more than 5 hours of development time requires approval and prioritization from the Seattle University Information Technology Council (ITC). Web Services will refer the requestor the ITC's Project Request Form when necessary.
  6. Whenever in doubt of who to contact regarding a web related issue the Help Desk should be contacted. The problem or request will be directed to the appropriate personal.

  1. ASP Classic
  2. ASP.NET 1.1/2.0
  3. SQL Server 2000
  4. Microsoft Access 2000/2003
  5. VB.NET, C#

The following web applications are supported by OIT Web Services:

  1. AdviserPlanner
  2. SchedulePlanner
  3. Course Description Editor
  4. MySU
  5. SU Communities (Blogs and Forums)
  6. SUDDS
  7. eServe
