Faculty Technology Support

The Office of Information Technology supports faculty in the use of instructional technology through the Faculty Technology Support (FTS). Faculty Technology Support offers experienced team support to Faculty seeking to integrate technology into their teaching. The FTS staff also administers and provides training and support for ANGEL (SU's learning management system). In addition, Faculty Technology Support offers a dedicated space where Faculty can get help with instructional technology or faculty development projects. The FTS lab is equipped with PC/Mac computer work stations, scanners, and audio/video equipment. The FTS staff and student assistants are available to consult with Faculty in the planning, design, development and assessment of curricular projects by appointment.

Instructional Design
The Faculty Technology Support staff offer consultation on best practices in instructional design: defining learning objectives, planning instructional activities and matching teaching and learning objectives to uses of technology.

Training and Instruction
The FTS Staff provides demonstrations, training and group presentations for the ANGEL learning management system, and on the use of hardware and software that support teaching and learning as well as supported software on campus. The FTS group offers one-to-one consultations, group training and frequently host instructional technology events. The FTS staff also creates training materials and online tutorials for Faculty, Staff and Students.

Technical Support
The Faculty Technology Support staff are responsible for the administration of ANGEL, Seattle University's learning management system. FTS Staff manage user accounts, course creation and enrollment, offer course technical support to Faculty and Staff using ANGEL. The FTS staff work cooperatively with OIT Network Services, Administrative Computing, Web Services and the Helpdesk to maintain Web-based learning technologies. The FTS staff also are responsible for creating DIY Web space for Faculty choosing to create Do-It-Yourself Course Web sites for their classes, and offers technical support for hardware and software (scanners, video cameras, etc) in the FTS Faculty lab.

Design and Development / Media production
The Faculty Technology Support staff collaborates with Faculty to design, develop and produce instructional materials, course Web sites and media projects for use in teaching or professional development. The Faculty Technology Support group will take on projects on a first come first serve basis with turnaround time dependent on the complexity of the project and overall workload.

• Presentation design (PowerPoint)
• Website design and development (development limited to basic HTML pages)
• ANGEL course design, development and customization
