Networking Quick Start Guide
How to get your computer on the network
Seattle
University has several ways to connect to the network. We offer both
wired and wireless connections at most locations on campus.
If you live on campus in one of the residence halls, we offer wired
connections in each room. Most newer computers have built in network
ports which can be used to connect to the network. If you need a cable,
they are available free of charge at the Help Desk.
Windows users should look at our guide to connecting to the residential
network. Mac and Linux users can connect your network cable and open a
web browser which will automatically redirect you to the authentication
page. Log in with your SU login and password and you will then have
full access to the network.
How to access the wireless network
Most
major buildings and classrooms support wireless access. There are no
special settings or encryption needed to connect using wireless on
campus. Any 802.11 a/b/g wireless adapter will connect to our network.
To log in, simply open up a web browser and it should automatically
redirect it to the network login screen. Enter your SU login and
password and once authenticated you will have full access to the
network.
How to get your game console on the network
To connect your game console to the network, please email the Help Desk with your console's make, model, MAC address and your room number. Click this link if you need help locating your console's MAC address. We will then contact you when your device has been approved.
