Web Content Management System (CMS)

All Seattle University school, college, departmental and Marketing web sites are published and managed by the Ektron enterprise web content management system (CMS). The CMS allows non-technical users to manage and publish web page content without needing to learn web development concepts or request assistance from the Office of Information Technology. Seattle University migrated to the Ektron CMS in August of 2009.

All users who request access to edit web pages in the CMS are required to complete online CMS training and pass an assessment before being given access. The Seattle University CMS only manages web pages hosted on http://www.seattleu.edu and does not include course or personal web sites.

Requesting Access

Users who need access to edit web pages in the CMS must complete online CMS training first. After completing and passing the assessment at the end, please contact the OIT Help Desk to request access to edit a web site. Please provide the exact title and web address of the site you are requesting editing access to.

If you are a student worker, follow the same procedure however your supervisor must request access for you.

Technical Support

CMS users are supported by OIT Application Services. If you have a question about using the features in the CMS, please revisit the online CMS training to review general concepts. If you have a more advanced question or a technical problem, please open a support request with the OIT Help Desk (206-296-5571). In the event of technical difficulties, the following information must be provided to the Help Desk so they may better assist you:

  • Web browser version.
  • The web address of the site you are editing.
  • A detailed description of what led up to your problem.
  • If an error message appears, fully copy/paste the error message into an email sent to helpdesk@seattleu.edu.
