ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:  Successful candidates will have expertise in one of the following nursing specialties: pediatric, medical-surgical, gerontological, or psychiatric-mental health. S/he will teach theory and clinical in undergraduate and graduate courses for an identified nursing specialty. Faculty members are expected to participate in teaching foundational theory and lab courses such as health assessment, communication, or research.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Prospective applicants must have a doctorate in nursing (including a D.N.P.) or a related field. If doctorate is not in nursing, a minimum of a master’s degree in nursing is required. S/he must be eligible for Washington State Nursing licensure. For psychiatric-mental health nursing, a certified nurse practitioner who is eligible for ARNP in Washington State is required. All candidates must show a demonstrated commitment to diversity and the university's mission, vision, and values. This position requires a criminal history background check.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Prior teaching and research are preferred. For gerontological nursing, a certified adult nurse practitioner is preferred.

Part-time appointments in both classroom and clinical settings are available for the 2009-2010 academic year with teaching responsibility at the undergraduate level in the areas of pediatrics and medical-surgical nursing, other specialties will also be considered on an ongoing basis.
