Seattle University President Stephen V. Sundborg, S.J., announced Wednesday, April 10, that Dr. Janiece DeSocio has been appointed interim dean for the College of Nursing.
Janiece will succeed Dr. Azita Emami when she steps down from the deanship on June 24, and will lead the college until a permanent successor is in place.
After joining the College of Nursing in 2010 as associate professor and associate dean for graduate education, Janiece led the development of the Doctor in Nurse Practice (DNP) program, which welcomed its first cohort this past fall. In addition to directing the DNP program, she serves as associate dean for continuing education and leads the college’s Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner track.
Dr. DeSocio is also co-principal investigator for a two-year grant from the Department of Defense to enhance nursing education that addresses the mental health needs of military service members and veterans affected by Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). Please join us in congratulating Janiece on this nod, and welcome her to this upcoming post.
