Alumni-Student Mentorship Program
Call for Alumni Participation!
"I think the main reason having a mentor is so ideal is because it allows students to start caring for themselves. After all, the irony in nursing is that we care for others without caring for ourselves." Andrea Hogan SU’s College of Nursing Student Mentorship Program Begins Fall 2012
- Opportunity to engage and build a meaningful relationship with a current nursing student who is preparing to enter the profession.
- Commitment to the program will vary according to the needs and expectations of each Alumni Mentor and the student.
- Program will include a quarterly gathering of all Alumni Mentors and students.
Do you have experience and passion for the nursing profession OR would you like to share your story with a student entering into the field?
The College of Nursing at Seattle University is offering you the opportunity to support a student entering the professional field of nursing. We seek positive role models, like you, to help support the educational and professional development of the future generation of nurses.
Maybe you wish you had a mentor in college who helped prepare you for the “real world?”
The goal of this program is to foster positive relationships intended to support College of Nursing students through their academic career and transition into the workforce. Your role as a mentor will be to provide assistance and support throughout the academic year by developing a relationship in order to advise and guide the student on his or her educational and career choices.
How much time do you really need to commit?
That’s really up to you and your “mentee”! You will build the relationship based on both the mentor and mentee’s availability. The College of Nursing will support this relationship through various events throughout the academic year but other conversations and interactions will be at your own pace.
Now is the time when you can use your knowledge and experience to help a future nurse follow in your footsteps!
