Three Nursing Students Receive Naef ScholarshipCongratulations to 2013-2014 Naef Scholarship recipients: Kelsie Deisinger, Kimberly Ito, and Elizabeth Jester!
Theresa A. Granger, PhD, MN, ARNP, FNP, NP-C, has been selected to receive a Nursing Faculty Initiatives Grant for her project, “The use of POGIL in first quarter nursing immersion courses: A pilot project.”
POGIL (process-oriented, guided inquiry learning) is an award winning pedagogical technique and philosophy that has been well studied in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) courses (www.pogil.org) at the high school and undergraduate level. However, few studies exist exploring the use of POGIL in nursing. Dr. Granger will work on her project during summer quarter along with Student Research Assistant, Christina Ung (APNI 2013). They plan to present their findings during the next academic year. Dr. Granger is Assistant Clinical Professor and FNP Track Lead at the College of Nursing.Support for the Nursing Faculty Initiatives Fund was given through a private donation to the College of Nursing. The purpose of the initiative is to assist full-time faculty members engage in scholarly activities or community projects with an emphasis on mentoring students in the area of nursing research and education.
