Kristine Coonce Awarded HRSA Nursing Scholarship
Congratulations to senior nursing student, Kristine Coonce (BSN, Summer '11) , on being selected for the Nurse Scholarship Program sponsored by U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA).
This is a highly competitive government program. In exchange for at least 2 years service at a health care facility with a critical shortage of nurses, the Nursing Scholarship Program will pay for tuition and fees for the remainder of Kristine's undergraduate nursing program. "I have so enjoyed my clinical experiences at SU and the close one-on-one learning and dialogue with clinical instructors," says Kristine."This quarter I am at Children's Hospital and absolutely love it. I hope to get a job there after graduation, and possibly go back to school after my service contract ends to become a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner."
The HRSA Nursing Scholarship Program awarded over 400 scholarships to nursing students across the U.S. in 2010. For more information about this scholarship program and to find out how to apply, please visit HRSA at http://www.hrsa.gov/loanscholarships/scholarships/Nursing/
