Deonne Brown-Benedict Wins AANP State Award for Excellence
Congratulations to College of Nursing faculty, Deonne Brown-Benedict, DNP, ARNP, FNP-BC, on receiving the 2010 AANP Nurse Practitioner State Award for Excellence. This prestigious award is given annually to a dedicated nurse practitioner in each state who demonstrates excellence in their area of practice. She will be recognized for this achievement during the 2010 AANP National Conference to be held June 23-27 at the Phoenix Convention Center in Phoenix, Arizona.
Dr. Brown-Benedict is an assistant professor at Seattle University and has been published in the Journal of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, the Journal of Nursing Education, The Nurse Practitioner, and Clinician Reviews. She opened the Charis Clinic this past summer, which offers holistic nursing-centered care and work in association with local churches, service and community organizations, and foundations. The clinic provides increased access to care for the uninsured and underinsured of south Snohomish County. She also serves on the board of the state nurse practitioner organization.
