Do I have to attend summer orientation?
Yes, all freshmen are expected to attend summer orientation and fall welcome week.
Who should plan to attend orientation?
Besides the incoming freshman, parents are highly encouraged to attend. There will be a concurrent family program at summer orientation.
Is there a cost associated with summer orientation?
Yes, there will be a cost for each participant. The cost is yet
to be determined. Student costs will be included in their first quarter
bill. Parent costs will be collected separately. The cost covers a
portion of the meals and materials for the program.
When do I receive my fall quarter schedule?
Fall quarter schedules will be distributed by an academic advisor during summer orientation.
Do I need to attend the first session to get a "good" fall schedule?
Not at all! Your fall schedule is created by an advisor based on
the new student preference information you submit on-line in May.
Getting an appropriate schedule is based on when you submit your preference
information on-line, not on what session of orientation you attend.
If I know what session I want to attend, should I make travel plans now?
Beginning in May, reservations will be taken on a first-come, first-served
basis but space is limited at each session so please do not make any
travel plans until you have received a session confirmation from us.
What if I need to change my orientation reservation?
Contact New Student & Family Programs at (206)296-2525, newstudent@seattleu.edu . We will do our best to accommodate a change.
What else will happen at summer orientation?
Many things! You will get to meet faculty and learn about professors' expectations in the classroom, experience community life, meet classmates, make friends, understand how to use SU's technology, have fun and much more!
Am I required to stay in the residence halls during summer orientation?
Yes, all students, even commuters, will spend the night in the halls during summer orientation.
When will I receive my housing and roommate assignment?
You will receive your community assignment at summer orientation. Your specific room and roommate assignment will be mailed to you in early August.
