Family Weekend

  • For one weekend in autumn, parents are our special guests. Please join us for Family Weekend.

    We have planned a perfect weekend, with a variety of events for you to enjoy with your student. Family Weekend is a great way to get to know your son's or daughter's friends and professors, and to meet other parents.

    Whether your student is a freshman or senior, Family Weekend is a great way to discover the place your son or daughter calls home.

    The Seattle University Choir will have a special concert on Friday night. Saturday morning, participate in an engaging discussion about our distinctive focus on learning at Seattle University.

    Don't miss the ever popular dinner show on Saturday or the Sunday morning brunch with the Jesuits. Whether you participate in every activity, or only a few, please plan to join your son or daughter, their friends and others for a fantastic weekend. Alumni and Family Weekend has something to suit every family's taste. 


    Family Weekend 2015 will be held October 23-25.  Please register at  Registration must be complete by Friday, October 16.


    Below is the schedule of events, which is subject to change. 

    Family Weekend 2015


    2:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Registration (Student Center Hearth) 
    Pick up your Family Weekend Packet that includes a map and other informative handouts.

    3:00 p.m. Garden Tour (departs from Student Center Hearth)
    Meet at the Student Center before going on a tour of the campus gardens led by the staff members who so diligently care for them.

    4:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m.  Powerful Partnerships: Employer and Alumni Panel Discussion on Student Career Preparation and Success  (The Boeing Room, Lemieux Library & McGoldrick Learning Commons)

    Join Career Services and a panel of local employers and alumni in business, government and nonprofit as they share advice for student career preparation and success.

    Dinner on Your Own 
    Feel free to check out one of the local restaurants suggested in our dining handout.

    6:00 p.m. - 8 p.m. Legacy Family Pinning Ceremony (Campion Ballroom)
    Are you a member of a multi-generation Seattle U family? Join us as we honor our Seattle University legacy families with a pinning ceremony and reception. This event is open to all current legacy students and their Seattle U alumni grandparents, parents and relatives. Legacy alumni will celebrate their family legacy by pinning their students with their Seattle U legacy pin. Attendees will enjoy appetizers, beer and wine. 
    Separate registration required at

    7:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Choir Concert (Chapel of St. Ignatius)
    Join us for the premier performance of the 2015-2016 Seattle University Choirs.

    Freewill offering.  Admission is free, but a ticket/reservation is required. 


    8:30 am - 9:30 a.m./10:30 a.m. - 12 p.m. Registration (Campion Lobby)
    Pick up your Family Weekend Packet that includes a map and other informative handouts. 

    9:00 a.m. — 9:30 a.m. Continental Breakfast (Campion Ballroom)
    Enjoy a light breakfast while conversing with fellow parents. $7 each. Tickets required. 

    9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. | Family Weekend Keynote (Campion Ballroom)

    Seattle University’s commitment to Academic Excellence is highlighted with this panel of students involved with faculty in research opportunities.  Come learn about the variety of exciting projects students engage in to broaden their academic knowledge base.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          1:00 p.m. Women’s Volleyball vs. Missouri-Kansas City (@ Seattle Academy)                                                Seattle U students, families and friends will all be admitted FREE to the volleyball game.  GO REDHAWKS!!   

    6:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Family Weekend Dinner Show (Campion Ballroom)
    A welcome from our president, Fr. Stephen Sundborg, S.J, begins an evening of fun and entertainment. Enjoy a performance by "The Coats" 
    Seattle’s amazing a capella sensations! A Family Weekend favorite! $20 each. Tickets required.


    9:00 a.m. Family Mass (Chapel of St. Ignatius) 
    Families are invited to attend this Sunday Mass with the Seattle University Community. All denominations are welcome. 

    10:15 a.m. — 11:30 a.m. Brunch with the Jesuits (Campion Ballroom)
    Join the university’s Jesuit community for a brunch to celebrate the families, students, and community that make Seattle U special. $12 each. Tickets required. 


     Athletics: Family weekend! Seattle U Students are admitted FREE with valid student ID and are allowed one (1) FREE guest! For Additional tickets, SU Athletics will offer $3 tickets for anyone accompanied by an SU Student. Purchase tickets at Seattle Academy for volleyball. Go Redhawks!

    Family Weekend parking is free in any campus parking lot this weekend.
