Rafting the White Salmon River


    Trip Information

    Join us for 8mi of whitewater and beautiful scenery on class 3 rapids with an expert guide; suitable for beginners to advanced!Wednesday we'll meet up for group activities and overnight on campus (commuters will commute from home) .Throughout the trip, the group will work on team building, communication,and decision making skills! The next day we'll enjoy a mini-road trip as we explore Washington's south central area and set up camp

    The best is last: a full day of rafting on Friday! All safety gear is provided.Limited to 15 students.

    List of Gear to Bring

    You will be sleeping in your Residence Hall on Wednesday night, however on Thursday night we will be camping outdoors, tent-style (we will provide the tents). You will need to bring a sleeping bag. The university has a limited number of sleeping bags for student use. Please bring your own if possible. If you cannot, please let us know by August 30th. The rafting company will provide us with life jackets, helmets, and wetsuits with booties.


    Students without the required gear won't be able to go on the Immersion.

    • Sleeping bag AND pad
    • Swim suit or other non-cotton clothing to get wet in (worn under wetsuit while rafting)
    • Hiking/walking shoes, make sure they are comfortable and closed toed
    • Headlamp preferred, but bring a flashlight at least
    • Any medications for current medical conditions, especially for known allergies.

    Remember we all need to pack light, this is only an overnight trip (all you need is night layers and after raft clothes).

    Strongly Recommended

    • Warm layers for night camping and a change of clothes for after the river
    • Camp shoes, also great for being comfy in the vans
    • Small Towel Toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, etc.)
    • Water bottle
    • Sun protection Sunglasses, Sunscreen, and Hat or Bandana
    • Camera if you want photos
    • We will provide waterproof disposables for each raft
    • Any other equipment that may be necessary for you
    • Your campus card for Friday night and to get back into your residence hall
