Jesuit Tradition
Introduction
The Society of Jesus, founded in 1540 by St. Ignatius of Loyola, has a long and distinguished tradition in higher education and in a wide range of other institutional and apostolic works including secondary schools, retreat houses, parishes, and many forms of service to those in material and spiritual need. Seattle University is a proud part of this exceptional tradition, drawing from it both strength and inspiration even while making its own unique contributions. There are many avenues available for exploring the Jesuit tradition, from the founding and history of the Society of Jesus to examining the vast array of involvements of Jesuits and those with whom they work both locally and around the globe.
This web page is designed to provide users with a wide variety of web links and resources in the general area of the Jesuit tradition. The page will be developed and expanded as links and
resources become more known and available.
