In the fall issue of Seattle University Magazine, our cover story is on Father Jean Baptiste Ganza, a Jesuit priest and MBA student (soon to be an alumnus) at Seattle University. Father Ganza’s inspirational story of surviving the 1994 genocide in Rwanda and his focus on improving the education of Rwandan students is a must-read.
Father Ganza is raising money to build a Jesuit-run secondary school in Rwanda, set to open in 2012. This follows his success in raising funding to build and operate an elementary school that today is attended by more than 300 students in Rwanda.
“Since Rwanda is deprived of natural resources, a good education is the best heritage we can pass to future generations of young Rwandans,” he says.
Check out the fall issue, out in mid-September, and online in the coming weeks for more on Father Ganza and his remarkable work in Rwanda.
Father Ganza poses with youth from Mercer Island, Wash., who will travel with him to Rwanda in December to help build the secondary school.
