The Wellness LLC offers first- and second-year residents the opportunity to engage in the Jesuit tradition of cura personalis (care for the person). This involves treating people as individuals and honoring their unique worth, caring for the whole person, and honoring people's cultural identities. Are you interested in learning how to balance your pursuit of academic excellence with a healthy social life? Do you want to learn better study skills, tips for managing the stress of college, or how to maintain your emotional and spiritual center in a new environment? Are you looking to live with others who share your passion for wellness?
Through curricular and co-curricular programming, residents explore emotional, physical, intellectual, social, environmental, and spiritual wellness. In the linked courses, students engage with questions of mindful living, connecting individual choices to local and global issues of social and environmental justice.
Co-curricular programming takes students into the community, attending lectures by nationally recognized speakers, experiencing Seattle's many cultural offerings, or volunteering with area hunger-fighting organizations and environmental restoration groups. In the residential community, past activities have included salsa dancing and rock climbing classes, workshops and lectures on healthy relationships, weekend retreats, service projects promoting wellness in the community, and discussions on stress management and relaxation. Research consistently demonstrates that the health and wellness habits students develop in college create the foundation for life-long behaviors.
The Wellness LLC, located in Campion Hall, is a partnership among the Office of Wellness and Health Promotion, the Core Curriculum, and Housing and Residence Life. This community is a fun, active, and engaging place to live!
