Services for Faculty

We aim to meet the teaching, research, and informational needs of faculty by providing a range of library services and spaces.  Below are some of the services commonly used by faculty.

Spaces

The Library & Learning Commons offers a Faculty Lounge on the 6th floor. Of course, other public spaces in the building, such as The Byte Café, are available for faculty use, as well!

• ARTstor: Faculty may request "Instructional Privileges" to ARTstor, which allows for the creation of course folders with image groups. Faculty manage these folders and can set up student folders for the sharing of images and comments. If you are interested, please contact Jan Hartley (hartleyj@seattleu.edu -- ext.6206) for additional information and to set up a training appointment.

Research services

• Research & information help in a variety of communication modes
• Cabell's Directory of Publishing Opportunities: Help for potential authors in selecting the journals most likely to publish their manuscript. Covers 2000 journals in business (accounting, finance, management, marketing, economics), more than 700 journals in education (curriculum, administration, educational psychology), and 400 journals in psychology. Find information about each journal, such as the editor’s name, manuscript guidelines, acceptance rate, and type of readership.
• Journal Citation Reports: A database for journal evaluation that uses citation data from over 8,400 journals. According to Thompson/ISI, the producer of this tool, "the JCR is the only source of citation data on journals, and includes virtually all specialties in the areas of science, technology, and social sciences. The JCR can show you the highest impact journals, most frequently used journals, hottest journals and largest journals."

Finding and borrowing materials

Learn how to borrow materials from:

•  Interlibrary Loan (for materials not in Summit)
