John A. Coleman, SJ, is the Cassassa Professor of Social Values at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. He has edited or authored 16 books, including One Hundred Years of Catholic Social Teaching, and contributed over 65 chapters to other works including the forthcoming "Pluralism and the Retrieval of the Common Good" in Catholicism in the Public Square (Sheed & Ward, October 2003).

Russ Lidman is Professor and Director of the Seattle University Institute of Public Service. He teaches and writes in the areas of public policy and government finance. Before coming to SU, he held positions in Washington State government - as Governor Locke’s Executive Policy Advisor in human services and later as Assistant Commissioner in the Employment Security Department. He was on the faculty of The Evergreen State College for two decades, including four years as Academic Vice President and Provost, and five years as Director of the Washington State Institute for Public Policy.
He has an MS and PhD in Economics from the University of Wisconsin and an MPA from the Woodrow Wilson School at Princeton University. He completed his undergraduate studies in electrical engineering at Cornell University. Professor Lidman was a Fulbright Professor both in Peru and in Ecuador.
Doreen Cato is currently Executive Director at First Place, a nonprofit agency focused on assisting families in transition and providing education and social service programs for children in grades K-7th. Doreen is a former public school educator, owner of a dance/movement studio, as well as a former employee of Washington Mutual Bank and United Way of King County.Extensively involved in the community, Ms. Cato’s has volunteered for 25 years on national, state, county and local levels dealing with human services, education, and social justice issues. She is currently Chair of King County Housing Authority Board of Commissioners, Chair of the State Advisory Council on Homelessness, Chair of the Transition Team for Minority Executive Directors Coalition, the City of Bellevue’s Youth Link, as well as serving on regional and national housing development boards of Commissioners.
Ms. Cato has a Bachelors degree in Art Education and a Masters in Applied Behavioral Science, with an emphasis on organizational and human systems. She is currently an Educational Leadership doctoral candidate at Seattle University. She is also adjunct faculty at Antioch Seattle University.
Even though Doreen has received numerous awards and recognition for her past and present achievements, she believes her greatest accomplishments are her children, Christina and Barron Cato.
