"The Institute for Policy Studies is the nation's oldest multi-issue progressive think tank." It sees its role as an alternative voice to other think tanks. The site links to interviews, government testimony, reports and other fulltext material as well for sale books.
 
National Center for Policy Analysis
Good site for policy issues. Gives both sides of issues, drawing information from newspapers, prominent analysts and think tanks. This private research organization advocates private sector solutions over government regulation.
 
Public Agenda Online
A non-partisan, citizen-education organization, Public Agenda Online has had a web site since 1997. The organization was founded by former Secretary of State Cyrus Vance and social scientist Daniel Yankelovich. The site covers the issues of the day from abortion to social security. Each issue is divided into links for understanding the issue and another for public opinion. The site gives points of view on each issue in their link, "framing the debate."
 
Urban Institute
Public policy think tank created in 1968 to inform policymakers on urban problems. Its scope has broaden to include research on health care policy, taxes, criminal justice and the new democracies.
