Articles

To find articles in journals, magazines or newspapers, you will need to search a periodical index or database. Some databases provide access to the complete article. Other databases will provide a citation to the journal, newspaper or magazine. If the article is not available full-text, write down the citation and search for the title in our serials lists: Lemieux Library Serial List or Serials Solutions Serial List, (These list are different so search both). If you can't find a journal you are looking for in our serials lists, request the article from InterLibrary Loan.

Conference Proceedings, PrePrints and Technical Reports

Computer Science research relies on the rapid dissemination of results. The formal, slow process of submitting papers to scholarly journals has been augmented by other, more rapid, dissemination methods. Searching for conference proceedings, preprints and technical reports is one method of finding cutting-edge computer science research.

Bibliographic Databases

A bibliography is an alphabetical listing of materials at the end of a written work to which the author referred during the research and writing process. The resources below collect bibliographies from across the internet, consolidate them, and provide access via a search engine. Searching and browsing bibliographies helps you find resources for your research. They do not provide access to full-text unless the author linked the citation to an online version of the document.

  • BibFinder: A Computer Science Bibliography Mediator
"BibFinder is a free computer science bibliography search engine. It integrates CSB (Computer Science Bibliographies), DBLP, Network Bibliography, ACM Digital Library, ScienceDirect, IEEE Xplore, CiteSeer, and Google."
  • The Collection of Computer Science Bibliographies

Initially the server was focused on DataBase systems and Logic Programming (DBLP), now it is gradually being expanded toward other fields of computer science. The server indexes more than 430,000 articles and contains several thousand links to home pages of computer scientists (October 2003)."

Journals

Browsing a journal is a good way to discover information on your topic. Journals provide access to scholarly information while magazines often contain popular information. Lemieux Library subscribes to the following print and electronic computer science journals. Print journals are shelved alphabetically on the third floor of the Library. Access to online journals is provided through licensed databases. If you want to search multiple journals at one time, see the Articles section above.
