Interlibrary Loan Details & Policies >Troubleshooting Web-Posted ILL Documents

Arranged by most common problem to least.

After following the link in your email notification and trying to logon, you receive the
Error Message:
"You don't have any available documents. Please make sure that your e-mail address and/or PIN is correct and login again." (Patrons often miss this message entirely... so look carefully towards the top of your browser screen to see if this small text is being displayed.)
Problem:
Incorrect data entry.
Solution: Try re-entering your Seattle University email address while making sure that the domain is included. (ex. gstudent@seattleu.edu). Also, the PIN listed in your email notification is "case sensitive". Letters are usually in "upper case" and be careful of : 0 (zero),O (the letter), 1(the number) and l (the letter) which often look similar in different fonts. We recommend using the "copy & past" function to transfer your PIN but be sure to not include any extra spaces.

After a successful logon and the "link" (ex. ILL 3588661 -- ID: 3588661 ) to your document is in view but doesn't seem to work.
Notice: Does the "# Views" goes up by 1 each time you try clicking the link?
Problem: A "Stop Pop-Ups" program is interfering with the opening of the PDF file.
Solution: Some Stop Pop-Ups programs (such as the one on Google Toolbar ) allow for a quick by-pass of the block. Try holding down the "Control" key (CTRL) while clicking the link to see if your document will open. A more permanent solution is to find and disable the program.

After a successful logon and clicking the link to your document, your Adobe Acrobat program is activated but the document doesn't appear ...rather it just continues to download without results.
Problem: If you are using a modem, it may be too slow for the size of the PDF file in combination with the traffic on the web.
Solution: If convenient, stop by a campus computer lab or the library and print or save your files on a floppy disk or CD. Another solution is to request that all Interlibrary loan PDF files be sent directly to your SU email account. (Call 206-296-6359 or email ill@seattleu.edu)This delivery method is not recommended to people who do not purge their accounts on a regular basis or who forward their SU email to another mail system.
