SUConnects 2006, Seattle University’s second annual instructional technology conference is intended to raise awareness of the use of technology in teaching and learning.
This year’s keynote speaker is Dr. Michael Lieberman Carey, Director of Online Learning for the School of Professional Studies from Gonzaga University. Dr. Carey’s presentation will focus on the challenges of building Gonzaga’s highly successful online degree program in Organizational Leadership. From Xavier University, Cathy Lewis and Dr. Elizabeth Rhodes will join the conference via a live webcast (using Adobe’s Breeze) and will speak on the impact of technology during Xavier’s recovery after Hurricane Katrina. SU Faculty guest speakers will include: Kerry Fitz-Gerald, Faculty/Reference Librarian, School of Law, presenting, “Ink versus Electrons: Bridging the Divide between Boomer and Millennial Research Styles”; Dr. Kara Heinrichs, member of the Communication and Journalism Department, presenting “Technology’s Tools for Success: Exploring the opportunities that ANGEL provides for faculty and students at Seattle University”; and Gareth Green, Associate Professor in Economics, Albers School of Business and Economics. presenting“Using Technology to Best Compliment your Teaching and Increase Student Learning.”
The SUConnects Student Brainstorm Competition will conclude with the best brainstorm will be revealed and winner announced. The daylong event will also feature exhibitors who will demonstrate how their technologies can enhance teaching and engage the 21st century student.
