Total Rewards Study
During the 2010-11 academic year, Seattle University commissioned a special, comprehensive study of compensation and benefit programs for its faculty and staff. The study was partly in response to feedback from the 2009 Satisfaction Survey and served as an input to one of five strategic priorities - "Investing in the Excellence of Our Faculty and Staff."
Mercer Consulting, an independent human resources consulting firm, was engaged to assist the university primarily by measuring the competitiveness of its pay and benefits programs. Seattle University's response to the Mercer findings was summarized in Fr. Steve Sundborg's May 10, 2011 email to faculty and staff. As Fr. Sundborg concluded in his email , "At a time when many other institutions are retracting and reducing their workforces, we are investing more deeply in the excellence of our faculty and staff. This investment will contribute to the health and vitality of our university and reflect our excellence as a university."
