2011 Market Pay Study Sources
Below is a profile of each of the pay survey sources used in Mercer’s assessment of market pay rates for the University’s faculty and staff.
- College and University Personnel Association (CUPA) - membership includes close to 90 percent of all U.S. doctoral institutions, around 70 percent of all master’s institutions, over 50 percent of all bachelor’s institutions, and almost 500 two-year and specialized institutions. CUPA-HR's services include 3 annual salary surveys - Administrative for top and functional leadership roles, Mid-level administrative/professional for other nonteaching roles and Faculty for 4-year programs. Mercer's study includes CUPA data gathered for the 2009-10 academic year.
- Milliman – A division of this benefits and actuarial consulting firm based in Seattle has conducted area pay surveys for nearly 30 years. The Milliman survey series is the authoritative source of pay data for the local market. SU is a regular participant in the two primary surveys: Puget Sound Regional for staff exempt/nonexempt roles and the Northwest Management & Professional for staff team leadership and exempt roles. The Mercer study included data published by Milliman in June and July 2010.
