Retirement Recordkeeping

 > Investment Choices

Fidelity Investments is the sole recordkeeper for the University’s retirement plan for all contributions made to the plan. Fidelity Investments was selected by the plan’s retirement investment committee after a careful and thorough review of several very qualified retirement providers. Fidelity stood apart from other bidding firms in the following ways:

  • Customer-centered communications and education resources – personally relevant information that will help you make informed retirement savings and investment decisions.
  • Local representation – three investor centers in the Seattle area and a commitment to providing dedicated representatives on campus for one-on-one assistance.
  •  Innovative and incisive planning tools – technology that simplifies the process of formulating and acting on your personal retirement plan.
  •  Reliable and responsive customer service – experienced Fidelity representatives who are ready to answer your questions.

The committee’s objective was to establish a partnership that provides faculty and staff with enhanced support for their retirement needs as well as access to best-in-class investment options. Fidelity offers upgraded services at a reduced cost to plan participants. In fact, fees have been halved starting in June 2012. This is an important point as fees are deducted from investment returns which are otherwise credited to your personal retirement account.
Changes were also made to the array of investment choices to provide participants access to a set of high quality options which are appropriate for retirement purposes. See Investment Choices for more information.
