2010 Faculty and Staff Survey

Mercer Consulting conducted a confidential, online survey of faculty and staff during October 2010.  As part of an overall study of pay and benefits, one of the primary objectives of the online survey was to enhance understanding of preferences among thirteen elements of pay, benefits or work experience. The survey also measured satisfaction levels for each of the thirteen rewards elements.

Survey responses were gathered by Mercer - an independent consulting firm engaged by the University to conduct the pay/benefits study.  Survey results will assist in setting or refining employee pay and benefit programs for the next academic year and beyond.

Mercer reports that competitive base pay is by far the most important reward to SU faculty and staff, followed by medical benefits. Highest rates of satisfaction were expressed for the SU retirement plan and affiliation with the University's mission, vision and values.
