Financial aid

Financial information

Last year, Seattle University awarded more than $69 million in scholarships, grants, loans, and employment aid to undergraduates—including $26 million from the university's own funds. Considerations in awarding financial aid include family assets, income, debts, family size, and the number of students in the family attending college. A variety of generous scholarships are also available to recognize and support strong academic and extracurricular achievement, regardless of financial need.

Determining your eligibility is easy—just apply. You can get an application from our Student Financial Services office, your high school or college counselor, or online using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The Student Financial Services office can also help with information about grants, scholarships, loans, and work-study programs on- and off-campus.

Seattle University's guarantee

Seattle University offers a guarantee of gift aid that is distinct from other institutions. When an offer is made to an incoming student, the amount of scholarship and need-based grant assistance remains constant for all four years. While the names of the grants or scholarships may change from year-to-year the total dollar amount of grants and scholarships will be no less than those received in the first year. Should a student lose eligibility for federal or state aid it will be replaced with institutional funds. If the student gains eligibility for federal or state aid there will be a decrease in institutional funds. This policy allows a family to make solid plans when financing college. The amount of need-based gift aid that is guaranteed is subject to verification of the student's application data and compliance with the university's Satisfactory Academic Progress policy (i.e. completion of a minimum number of credits each year with a minimum grade point average).
