Travel Grants For Undergraduate Researchers
The Office of Research Services and Sponsored Projects (ORSSP) is happy to announce that in Academic Year 12-13 we are able to provide modest support to undergraduate researchers traveling to conferences to present their work (papers, posters, creative projects). This is a competitive process and students will have two opportunities (November 2012 and April 2013) during the academic year to apply for funding.
Eligibility:
*Applicant must be an undergraduate student currently enrolled at Seattle University
*Student must be presenting original work (paper, poster, creative work) completed while enrolled at Seattle University with an SU faculty mentor
*Student has not received an NCUR award for the same academic year. (If a student receives travel support in November 2012, he/she is ineligible to apply for NCUR support in January 2013)
Scope of the Travel Grant:
*Travel must be completed between July 1, 2012 and June 30, 2013
*Grant provides support for travel, conference registration, and lodging
*Maximum grant award $500 (If multiple students are presenting the same project only $500 will be awarded)
*Reimbursement provided against receipts; Seattle University travel policies apply
*Students can only receive one award during the fiscal year (including an NCUR award)
*Students can seek support from other SU sources (college/department)
*Grant does not support presentations at the National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR). There is a separate competitive application process for NCUR support
Application Requirements:
*Travel grant application form (click here)
*Documentation (email/letter) showing acceptance of presentation at the conference
*Letter of support from faculty mentor confirming the student's contribution, the signifigance of the presentation for the student's professional development, and confirming students current enrollment at Seattle University
*Budget identifying cost of travel, hotel, and conference registration (Seattle University travel policies apply. Please consult the Controllers Office website for more information)
Completed Applications are due in the ORSSP office (USVC 203) by 3 PM April 22, 2013
