    The courses offered in the English Language and Culture Bridge are highly advanced, with a specific focus on university-level reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills.

    Courses for Freshmen

    Students at the beginning of their academic careers are usually expected to take courses in Academic Reading and Writing, Basic Writing (English 101), and Classroom Communication.

    Courses for Transfer and Graduate Students

    Students who transfer to Seattle University during their subsequent years of study, as well as graduate students, are expected to take courses that advance their strategic reading, writing, and academic speaking skills essential for success in the disciplines. In addition, the course work for transfer and graduate students concentrates on the American academic culture and the specific preparation for requirements at Seattle University.

     ELCB 0800   Academic Vocabulary and Grammar
    Transfer students with TOEFL scores ranging from 68/520 to 78/547 (inclusive) are required to take the Academic Vocabulary and Grammar course (CLBR 080) before they can enroll in Advanced Academic Writing (CLBR 090)
