csce@seattleu.eduFamily engagement, for me, begins with the belief that all families have something significant to contribute to their child's (or children's) education. Families are the primary teachers in a child's life, and working from that place, I hope to support families as they work towards achievement for their children. As part of the Youth Initiative, family engagement helps bring the pieces together – connecting the schools, community partners, and the needs of families for systemic partnerships. This work is tough, and it requires long-term strategies and relationships in the community. I am excited that the Center for Service is committed to this complex work and is dedicated to a holistic approach to educational change.
I have a B.A. from the University of Washington in Geography and M. Ed from the University of Washington in Education Leadership and Policy Studies. I enjoy Seattle's gray skies and Netflix streaming. You can often find me sharing a new restaurant, blabbering about public transit, and generally enjoying all things nerdy. I am the parent of two amazing teenagers who remind me that I'm not nearly as awesome as I think I am.
