Victoria Rucker

Associate Director

As Associate Director, my primary responsibility is to serve as a liaison to connect the campus and the community. In the community, I develop strong relationships with community partners to better understand the assets and the needs of our community. In doing so, we learn about how the University can best direct its resources to effect positive social change. On campus, I assist faculty with community connections for project-based service-learning courses, develop one-day community visits for faculty and staff, and serve as the staff lead for the planning of the Community Engagement Initiative, a university-wide effort to enhance student learning, faculty teaching and scholarship, staff involvement, and community engagement.

Having the ability to work with students, faculty, staff, and the greater Seattle community inspires me in that I am able to see firsthand Seattle University's mission at work. I firmly believe that we all have the capability of being agents for change and feel very fortunate to do work that supports this belief. I also believe that all things are possible if we all work together.

A proud native Californian, I received my Bachelor's Degree in Ethnic Studies with a minor in Teacher Education from the University of California at San Diego. I am also completing my Master’s of Public Administration from Seattle University’s Institute of Public Service. My professional career includes having the honor of serving as a 3rd grade teacher in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, working as a case manager for the University of Washington's Reconnecting Youth Program, and directing the youth leadership programs for the YWCA of Seattle, King and Snohomish Counties. I am a proud mama of wonderful little girl and enjoy spending my extra time with her!
