Spirit of Community Awards
Each year, we honor those who show thoughtful leadership, dedication, integrity, humility, and who serve with compassion and soul. View past awardees here. Past awardees are ineligible to win again.
Student Awards: Undergraduate and Graduate Student
Recognizes a student who demonstrates service to the community with dedication, integrity, humility, thoughtful leadership, compassion and soul, and a deep understanding of social justice. Selection is based on a nomination from a faculty member or community partner and an essay written by the student describing how his/her service experience has affected their academic and personal development and contributed to the community. Nominations come from faculty, staff, and community partners.
Community Partner Award
Recognizes a community partner (individual or agency) that exemplifies CSCE goal of creating strong reciprocal partnerships in order to foster social change and contributes positively to the development of reflective, creative, compassionate, and just student leaders. Nominations come from students, faculty, staff, and community organizations through a community partner nomination form.
Staff Award
Recognizes a staff member who demonstrates exceptional commitment to service with a nonprofit agency or to coordinating or sustaining projects that make a positive difference in the community. Nominations come from students, faculty, staff, and community partners through a staff nomination form.
Faculty Award
Recognizes a faculty member who demonstrates outstanding achievement in academic service-learning through working in a mutually beneficial partnership with a community partner; developing reflective, creative, compassionate, and just student leaders; and/or engaging in exemplary community-based research. Nominations come from students, faculty, and community partners through a faculty nomination form.
